Lead Times/Time in Transit
Since our truffles are handmade, and not packaged until we have an order for them, we sometimes have to push our ship date back to accommodate the number of orders we get. This is especially true around the holidays. For your convenience, we list the ship date on our home page, shopping cart, thank you screen and your email receipt. We appreciate your understanding--we really are making them as fast as we can, but we won’t compromise our freshness and quality!
You’ll notice that our ship dates are usually listed as “the week of.” This flexibility allows us to take as many orders as we can handle for each week before pushing the ship date back. We ship as early in the week as we can (usually Monday, sometimes Tuesday) to try to avoid having your truffles being in transit over the weekend.
Please note, the shipping method you select only affects the time in transit, not the ship date. We can sometimes make an exception and ship earlier than our posted date, but when we do that, we cannot refund or replace if anything goes wrong. Our entire shipping process is designed around getting your truffles to their destination in good condition. If we deviate from our procedures, we waive our guarantee and we need your approval to ship with no guarantee.
For ground shipping, we have determined that either Fed Ex Home or Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation provides the best service at the lowest cost, depending on the destination. It usually takes 2-3 days*. However, delivery date is not guaranteed, so for packages that have to be there in 2 business days, or the next business day, we use Fed Ex Express (please note: Fed Ex will not deliver to PO Boxes, so please provide a physical address for 2nd Day or Overnight shipments).
*Just like regular mail, around the holidays, extra time should be allowed. While many packages arrive in 2-3 days during this time, some take several days longer. So, again, if you need to hit a specific date, please choose 2nd Day Air or Overnight.
Sometimes, depending on the day on which a holiday falls, we will disable the ground shipping option for that week. Our goal is to get the truffles to their destination in as direct a manner as possible. Therefore, we try to avoid having your truffles stuck in transit over the weekend or a holiday. If the ground shipping option is not available and you would like to place an order for a later week with ground shipping, please give us a call at (269) 468-9866 and we will take your order over the phone.
You can always place an order now and have us ship it in the future. Just tell us in the Special Instructions Box which week you'd like us to ship. Keep in mind, we only ship on Mondays (sometimes Tuesdays) to ensure the truffles don't get stuck in transit over a weekend.
A Word About Warm Weather Shipping
During the warmer months, or to warmer climates (or even if your truffles will pass through a warmer climate on their way), extra care must be taken to ensure that your truffles arrive in perfect condition. That’s why we pack all warm weather shipments in insulated containers with frozen gel packs (both reusable).
Our goal is to provide you with the lowest cost method of receiving your order in perfect condition. We conduct on-going tests to make sure we are achieving that goal. Therefore, we may periodically make changes to the shipping options we offer if we feel they are necessary to ensure the safety of your precious cargo.
We've found recently that we need to increase the number of ice packs for each order. Therefore, we've had to increase our shipping costs accordingly.
“I received your chocolates...and OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!! Talk about chocolate heaven. You are now my love!!!! Your truffles are the answer to any chocoholic's dreams. Thank you for the wonderful shipping/packaging...the precious joys were not damaged in any way and came all intact. Look for another order shortly. Thanks again.”
We will ship to APO addresses, however, due to the extended time in transit, we cannot guarantee the safe or timely arrival of the truffles. Fed Ex does not ship to APO addresses, so all APO shipments will be shipped via Priority Mail.
Our current shipping charges (continental US) are as follows:
*We cannot send 2nd Day or Overnight packages to PO Boxes--please provide a physical address.
**For orders above $200.00, place items in shopping cart to see options and prices.
Remember, all prices include reusable insulated containers and ice packs as necessary. Prices to Alaska and Hawaii are higher, see options when placing your order.
We are no longer able to ship orders internationally, to Puerto Rico or to the US Virgin Islands.
We greatly appreciate your business and look forward to hearing from you!
